“The governments of the United Kingdom, Ireland, Scotland and Wales have pledged their support for this application. The Northern Ireland government is not formally meeting at the moment, but officials there continue to monitor the process closely.” – says the joint statement of the football federations.
Great Britain and Ireland announced last month that they would not submit bids to host the 2030 World Cup, based on a feasibility study.
The European Union (UEFA) announced last October that the intention to host the tournament must be announced by March 23, with the candidates to be announced in April, while the winner will be announced in September. The minimum requirement is ten stadiums, one of which must have a capacity of at least 60,000 spectators, and two of which must have a capacity of 50,000. If more than two countries organize the continental competition jointly, the host country will not automatically get the right to start.
Germany will host the 2024 European Championship.
