A four-seater that can carry 6-8 bags may be a lot, but there are not many that can reach speeds of 300 km/h. But Koenigsegg did.
The Swedish carmaker announced on Instagram that it has developed a roof box for its latest model, the Gemera. We already have experience with this, because in 2011 such an accessory was also introduced for the Regera R.
The carbon fiber roof box developed for Gemera can accommodate four sets of skis, snow boots and ski poles, or alternatively two full-sized suitcases or four additional pieces of carry-on luggage. However, among luxury cars, the Gemera has a large trunk with a capacity of 200 liters (front and rear combined).
The box, called the Gearbox, is aerodynamically designed to withstand a speed of 300 km/h. The car detects that if the roof box is in place, it limits the Gemera’s maximum speed to the specified speed.
Currently, the Gearbox has the least drag – according to Koenigsegg tests, it increases the Gemera’s overall drag by only 11%. It is no coincidence that the car’s design does not attract attention, the car does not look like that at all.
A total of 300 Gemeras are planned for production, which would originally have been equipped with a hybrid drivetrain in which a three-cylinder petrol engine and three electric motors form a single unit. The chain of command has now expanded to include two members. In the most restricted version, the aforementioned 600 hp three-cylinder engine is accompanied by an 800 hp electric motor. System power is 1400 horsepower, and system torque is 1850 Nm.
If that’s not enough (who? where?) knowledge of the version known as the Tiny Friendly Giant, something even crueler could be coming. In addition to the aforementioned Dark Matter electric motor (Dark Matter E-motor), its power is 1,500 horsepower. It is accompanied by a 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 (Hot V8). The result is 2,300 hp and 2,750 Nm.
No wonder he needs to retreat.
