When there were rumors last year that Huawei would use the new Kirin chipset in 2023, the Chinese manufacturer denied it. Nine months have passed since then, and the Mate 60 devices have appeared, with the Kirin 9000S chip under their covers, and as it turns out, there is another chip in the hands of the Chinese, called the Kirin 830, and it will be able to power the Nova 12 models.
According to new information, the chipset will be called Kirin 830 and will debut with the Nova 12 series sometime at the end of this year. It is true that this is not the first time we have heard about this chip, but until now no one has guessed when Huawei will come with it. The Nova 12 and Nova 12 Pro were previously shown in leaked posters, based on which we assume that the base model will only have the Kirin 830 chipset inside.
The smartphone will reportedly come with a triple camera on the back, a 60MP front camera, and an 88W fast charging battery. As for the performance of the Kirin 830 chipset, the birds are tweeting that it may reach somewhere around the Snapdragon 778G or Snapdragon 870. Of course, these are just assumptions at the moment.
What’s even more interesting is whether the chip will be able to connect to 5G networks, and if so, who will manufacture it, given that Huawei still doesn’t have access to next-generation network technologies due to the trade ban. The relevant patents are owned by US companies, and they are not allowed to do business with the Chinese manufacturer, or only with permission.
