As Index Before the Holidays reported, a wave of strikes is sweeping across Great Britain. Health care workers, paramedics, border guards, railway and air transport workers also announced a stoppage of work for the period between Christmas and New Year’s.
Due to a strike by rail and air transport workers, getting into Britain is not easy. On Sunday, railway employees indicated that they would begin a 24-hour work stoppage from the evening after Christmas, according to reports. bloomberg.
Members of the cross-country operator’s Transit Employees Association (TSSA) did not start work from 9:00 p.m., protesting the mandatory layoffs and demanding an immediate pay rise to counter the rising cost of living.
Services across the country in a large part of Great Britain will be severely affected by the strike, which will include customer service managers, drivers, training, customer communications, security and traffic department staff.
The trains will stop unless the management of the company, together with the government, makes us an offer that suits us. We are tired of our work being taken for granted, but our legitimate requests fall on deaf ears. We demand a safer work environment and higher wages. Until these things are achieved, we will continue the strike
said union president Nadine Ray.
Workers at another company, Great Western Railway, announced a 24-hour strike from midday Wednesday.
