Mandatory postal parcel delivery has begun to stutter, and customers of online stores can easily get unpleasant surprises

The state-owned company has been fighting to introduce mandatory postal parcel delivery, despite a large number of online stores warning customers of various astronomical surcharges. Posta claims that the quality is adequate.

As expected, Magyar Posta was unable to take over the service of all existing Hungarian web stores without interruption – since March 28, all online retailers have been obliged to offer the services of the state-owned company for parcel delivery. There was a customer who was informed that his package did not fit the specified device and he could only receive it as a package left at the post office.

There was a web store that, on the first day of the new contract, did not get a car to pick up the prepared packages, and they were also informed that something like this might happen in the future. This company is one of the luckiest in that, at least after signing the contract with the post office, the customer code, user ID and codes necessary to use the digital application were obtained smoothly – which cannot be said for everyone.

As the services provided by the state-owned company are faltering, there was a merchant who warned his customers: they can choose postal delivery if they want, but only at their own risk, because the web store cannot guarantee when they will receive the goods.

“Thanks to infrastructural developments in recent years, our company is able to flexibly handle even feverishly changing parcel volumes regardless of the period,” Posta avoids asking HVG about specific problems. In addition, the company is able to carry out the task assigned to it under the decree with the appropriate quality.
