The Moondrop MIAD 01 smartphone is designed for listening to music wired, with two types of jack connectors

Moondrop is a Chinese manufacturer, mainly known for its earphones and other audio products. The brand has announced its first smartphone, which is called the MIAD 01, and it has interesting features for audiophiles, such as two volumes of headphone outputs.

By the way, MIAD stands for Mobile Internet Voice Device. The smartphone is powered by a mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor, which has an octa-core CPU and a Mali-G68 MC4 graphics controller. The device is complemented by 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, which can be further expanded using a micro SD card of up to 2TB.

There are two image recording modules on the back of the MIAD 01, the first of which is a 64MP build. It is not yet known what the characteristics of the secondary module are, that is, it cannot be a large number, it is likely that it is just a simple depth sensor. A 32-megapixel selfie camera is mounted on the front panel.

Under the hood of the smartphone is a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 33W charging. USB-C port supports USB 3.1. The device is 9.15mm thick at its thinnest point and weighs 202g. The display is a 6.7-inch 1080p+ OLED panel that supports 120Hz refresh rate and 1920Hz PWM dimming. As promised by Moondrop, the smartphone will run full Android without ads or data collection.

What really makes the smartphone interesting is the dual headphone jack, which consists of a 4.4mm balanced output and a 3.5mm single-ended output. The balanced connector has an output of 4 Vrms, while the 3.5mm connector has an output of 2 Vrms.

Audio is provided by two high-end CIRRUS Logic MasterHiFi DACs, the specific model has not been named, but the CS43198 may have been chosen by the manufacturer. The dynamic range is 132 dB and the SINAD value is 118 dB. These specifications are excellent even for a portable DAC, let alone a smartphone.

The audio circuit received a six-layer gold modulation and an independent LDO power supply. The device has a hardware-level DAC volume control with 100 steps, and thanks to the Moondrop Audio Center app, it also has DSP functionality.

We've saved the most surprising thing for last, because the Moondrop MIAD 01 sells in China for just 128,000 HUF. Details of potential international distribution have not yet been announced.
