After the amazing expansion of AI-based developments, it was only a matter of time before it would also appear in various chat applications. Well, the day has arrived, as Viber has introduced a brand new functionality under its joint collaboration with OpenAI – a functionality that can't yet be found in any of the major chat apps.
The crux of the innovation is that Viber is now powered by artificial intelligence
The content of group conversations can be summarized – up to one hundred unread messages.
In practice, this looks like the user – after entering a group chat with unread messages – receives a message that Viber is able to summarize what they missed briefly, in bullet points, so they don't have to reread what happened for long minutes.
It is important to note that for the function to work, it is necessary for the AI to interpret what is written in the conversation, so in order to protect the most sensitive data, you can of course disable the development.
The feature is gradually rolling out to users in the US, Philippines, Ukraine, Japan, Bulgaria, and Poland, and will be rolled out to more countries soon. The service will be available on iOS and Android in more than 50 languages.
