Index – Outside – Even New York was completely covered in smoke from the Canadian wildfires

A high-risk air quality warning has been issued for millions of people in North America due to wildfires in Canada BBC.

Smoke from wildfires engulfed major cities in Ontario and Quebec, including Toronto and surrounding areas. The smoke traveled to New York City and Connecticut, where the air quality was rated unhealthy. Most of the smoke comes from Quebec, where 160 fires are burning.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has rated the air quality in much of the Northeast as unhealthy, especially for those who already have breathing problems.

The alert covers New York City and much of Connecticut. Boston is affected in the north, and Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C. in the south.

In New York, images taken on Tuesday morning showed an orange haze blanketing the city due to smoke from a wildfire that moved south from Canada.

Public health officials have warned people to stay outdoors and reduce exposure to smoke as much as possible because air quality poses both immediate and long-term health risks.
