Elon Musk accuses Mark Zuckerberg of stealing and threatens to sue

Twitter threatens to sue Meta over a new Instagram-linked microblogging service that debuted Thursday, over what Twitter says are threads illegal theft of Twitter – quoted Letter addressed to the CEO of Meta by the BBC.

In a letter to Mark Zuckerberg on behalf of Twitter attorney Alex Spiro, Meta is accused

Creating a copy of the microblogging application by hiring former employees of Twitter and illegally using trade secrets and intellectual property of Twitter.

Tens of millions of people have already signed up for the Instagram-related app and it was introduced in the US on Thursday.

The app is seen as a competitor to Twitter, which was acquired by Elon Musk, because on threads, similar to Twitter, you can post short, two-line posts.

“There isn’t a single person on the thread development team who was previously at Twitter,” Meta spokesperson Andy Stone wrote in his response Thursday.

The AP contacted both Twitter and the company’s attorneys regarding the news, but the news agency only received an automated response from Twitter to press inquiries, which was an emoji.

The new app is very popular in the United States, but due to “regulatory issues,” people living in EU member states cannot access the topics at the moment.
