Even without a video card, the new red chip delivers 130 frames per second in Fortnite.

Fortunately, we've left behind the years plagued by chip shortages, crypto mining companies, and profiteers, when millions of gamers looked glassy-eyed at their half-finished computers dusting under the table and hoped that one day they'd have the money to buy a video card. If AMD had launched these processors at that time, the situation of many would have improved.

AMD Ryzen 8000G APUs have appeared on store shelves in the past few days: they are processors in which a particularly powerful integrated graphics chip has also been created. Already in the first days of the year we saw the leaked data and the broadcasted performance, and now the first parts have finally reached the testers, so we can see with our own eyes that AMD has something to be proud of.

Video from Hardware Unboxed revealed that the top model AMD Ryzen 8700G is truly capable of delivering amazing performance: in Fortnite, it achieved an average of 132 fps with low 1080p graphics settings, but it also achieved 119 fps in Counter-Strike 2 with medium graphics . Of course, this isn't how we would go to esports competitions, but it's enough to get lost at home.

It wasn't just these potato-optimized games that brought the hardware to a livable level: Baldur's Gate 3 squeezed in an average of 49 fps, but Cyberpunk 2077 also brought in an average of over 40 fps. That's still short of the 60fps specified by AMD, but it's still an impressive performance, especially in light of the fact that the previous-gen top model didn't even hit 20fps in the BG3. The Ryzen 8700G has 12 RDNA3 CUs, while the iGPU 7700 has only 2 RDNA2s, hence the strong increase.

It is clear that the chip cannot compete with devices equipped with a dedicated graphics card in terms of performance, but at the same time it consumes much less, and does not require additional cables or a brutal cooler. So, if someone is thinking about building a small computer that they can hide under a TV, for example, it would be an ideal choice to build their configuration on that basis.
