A Hungarian astronomer discovered the asteroid that entered the atmosphere

Astronomer Christian Sarnecki discovered the asteroid that reached Earth's atmosphere at dawn on Sunday and fell into pieces over Europe. writes rtl.hu. Several shots were taken of the celestial body, which were captured on video as if it were in the air. He adds that this phenomenon can be seen from Leipzig, Berlin and Prague, but also from Hungary tykkep.hu.

The asteroid, called 2024 BX1, was about one meter long and fell into pieces in the atmosphere. The celestial body entered the Earth's atmosphere over Berlin at 2:30 am.

2024 BX1 is the third object discovered by Szarnieczky before it crashed. Qubit writes. The astronomer found the asteroid using the telescope of the Piszkéstető Observatory in Matra on Saturday night at 22:48.

Thanks to this, it was possible to calculate when and where it would reach the atmosphere, and other astronomers could observe it as well.

There are no reports of damage yet, although smaller pieces of the celestial body can be expected to reach the Earth's surface.
