He easily flirts with about five million a month. Photo: Facebook/Viktor Orbán

“Dear golden life!

Not long ago, I saw on a billboard that Orban had only given himself a pay rise, and the ministers had not received a penny. Of course, I don’t feel sorry for his subordinates, they’ve had enough of the meat bowl. But that’s a big shame, I mean this guy who settled on the Hungarians and fills his pocket well gets five million forints. And by the way, we know that not only did he get that five million, but a lot of his expenses were also paid for, and he got a lot of stuff for free.

One of my acquaintances said that presidents like Orbán get what they get, so you shouldn’t feel sorry for them. In fact, I am not bothered by this increase, but rather that this person is not doing what he was elected to do. (I don’t understand, of course) We don’t understand, he does this or that for the respectable Hungarian citizens, but only for the sake of his family, the gas worker’s friend and his circle of friends, they are doing well, and everyone else. They must live as long as they can.

It does not seem to bother him, for example, that more and more teachers are leaving school, because they earn so little and are so governed and controlled that they have no freedom. They dictate what textbooks should be taught, forcing them to take extra classes and substitute. I also have a teacher friend who worked as a bus driver, and another who went to teach English in Austria, taking his family with him and is certain he will never return.

I only have one question: “When will Viktor Orbán give me a real salary?” With this inflation, it’s good that what I get is enough for all the important basic things, I stress the basic things, until the end of the month. This is a net 165,000 Hungarian forints. In fact, I only spend on food, utilities and transportation, and I give the kid some ice cream money. That’s it. The company I work for is in no hurry to adjust my money to inflation, although it raises it regularly. I need some kind of social support because I am raising my daughter alone. I think I will also write a letter to Urban to see if he will get through and read it. I don’t give up, I believe in miracles.

Hope for the best!

B. Judit, a reader from Budapest
