New York is one of the world's leading tourist destinations. It offers so many attractions, it has an energy you can't get enough of. On the other hand, there is one famous place that has not impressed tourists very much.
One of the main destinations and the most visited place is Times Square, which many people described as terrible on Tripadvisor. “Since I lived next to Times Square, I walked around a lot. It seemed less crowded in the morning, but very crowded and terrible in the evening,” one wrote.
According to another user, people are idiots and there are many vendors who offer sightseeing bus tours but will not take no for an answer and shove themselves in tourists' faces. You can't just walk there in the evening, it's very noisy and crowded. Another review said: “It was on my must-watch list, I checked it out and marked it, and that's it. Unfortunately, that's not my world.” Another person suggests that it's best to avoid weekends and December because of the crazy crowds. People don't pay attention to where they are going because they are staring at their phone and bumping into another phone.
About 330,000 people cross Times Square every day, making it one of the busiest pedestrian crossings in the world. This famous square is often featured in movies, and is of course even busier on New Year's Eve.
Since Times Square is very popular, tourists should also beware of pickpockets. They happen there a lot, so you should definitely keep your wallets and phones in a safe place. It's also a good idea to beware of scammers dressed as Disney characters who just want to take pictures for money.
Despite the chaos, many people described Times Square as a positive experience.
One review said: “It's a real bustling hub of performers, busy streets and amazing street art. It's a great place to take in the sights and sounds of the city and enjoy the energy of New York.”
One of the worst parts of Disney World is that unless we spend extra money on discounts and Express Entry, we spend most of our time waiting in line. But this is not only expected in the parks.
