The University of Pecs won the silver medal in the National Universities and Colleges Handball Championship held in Gyor.
For women, the Hungarian University of Physical Education and Sport Sciences (TF) and the University of Pécs, who are playing excellently, came first in their group, so these two teams can compete for the championship gold. In the final, TF won a dominant 35-25 victory over Pécs and – as in the previous year’s announcement – was able to stand on top of the podium. In any case, PTE can also be proud of itself, because after last year’s sixth place, this silver medal shines very well.
– The start of the match turned out to be bumpy, but in the end, the Pécs players were a bit tired, and pretty much replaced their entire first line. The end result is somewhat disingenuous, as the score was still close in the first half, but the scissors opened in the end – said Herbert Christian, TF Technical Director.

The interesting thing about the tournament is that in this year’s Eszterházys team, they were able to thank many outstanding players and many athletes who have worn the Hungarian national team jersey on several occasions now or in the past. Among others, Zsolt Balogh, Gábor Császár or Bencé Nagy.
