The Canadian Paralympic Committee charts a visionary course with new 10-year strategy

The new plan focuses on inclusivity and excellence in sports

Ottawa, ON, October 5, 2023 /CNW/ – The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) today unveiled its ambitious 10-year strategic plan, which outlines a vision that intertwines the advancement of Paralympic sport with the pursuit of a more inclusive Canada.

The bold decade-long strategy, which will see the CPC through 2033, is the culmination of many months of research, discussion, collaboration and improvement with many CPC members and partners within the sports community.

“We are starting this journey with a clear and convincing road map,” said Marc-Andre Fabian, head of the Chinese Communist Party. “Our focus is twofold: supporting the world of Paralympic sport and harnessing its transformative power to deepen community connections, celebrate diversity, and promote inclusivity around the world. Canada“.

The strategy focuses on two key areas – providing Canadian athletes, coaches and staff with the best preparation and ideal healthy environments to excel at the Paralympic Games, and demonstrating the power of Paralympic sport to impact a more inclusive and accessible community.

Its basic pillars include the following:

  • A journey through heritage: Embracing Canada’s rich Paralympic heritage as a fundamental beacon of inclusivity Canada.
  • Champion Canadian Paralympic Athlete: Creating a strong ecosystem where athletes, supported by consistent support, rise to their full potential.
  • Beyond Sports – A Cultural Shift: Utilizing the powerful platform of sport to challenge and reshape societal perceptions about disability.
  • The spirit of cooperation and global leadership: Commitment to advancing the global Paralympic movement through unity, innovation and leadership.
  • Values ​​in the heart: Upholding core values ​​such as collaboration, belonging, accountability, joy and excellence.

“Our strategy lays the foundation for transformative changes and amplifies the profound impact of sport on society,” he said.
