Index – Abroad – The World Health Organization awaits China’s response regarding the mysterious pneumonia epidemic

The World Health Organization has requested official information from Chinese authorities because many Chinese children’s hospitals are full due to a mysterious pneumonia epidemic. the Information radio Veterinary virologist Miklos Rosvai wondered about this phenomenon.

The Chinese authorities must respond to the World Health Organization’s request within 24 hours

– said the specialist in the interview, adding that in this case, all available official statistical data and reports regarding exactly which viruses or bacterial pathogens cause problems and infections should be made available to the organization.

This phenomenon is due to the spread of known pathogens such as influenza virus, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, a respiratory disease that usually affects younger children, as well as giant cell lung disease and the coronavirus that causes Covid-19.

Children do not have immunity yet

Miklos Rosvai said cases of pneumonia and respiratory illnesses were mainly reported in northern China and Beijing.

The virus researcher believes that the restrictions imposed by the Asian country due to the Covid epidemic, which were lifted in May-June, may have contributed to the spread of childhood diseases and respiratory infections.

He also expressed his opinion on the fact that at the beginning of this year many children fell ill in Hungary due to infection with respiratory syncytial virus, mycoplasma, influenza, pneumonia, rhinovirus and other similar diseases and viruses.

He believes the reason for this is that minors had not encountered these pathogens in previous years due to restrictions, so they had not acquired immunity to them.

The Chinese authorities explain the current wave of respiratory diseases with the same conditions and operations.

Right now, there is no need to fear a global pandemic

– stated the virus researcher, adding to his thoughts that we can confirm the validity of China’s response in approximately 7 to 10 days, when all cases will be investigated.
