A 2-5 percent increase used to sound like a good deal, but now they are seeing prices skyrocket.

In 2020, the postmen negotiated a three-year pay agreement, on the basis of which they will receive a 2 percent raise this year. However, after inflation has increased so much, they want to renegotiate the agreement and demand an increase in line with inflation – this is revealed from the RTL Klub report.

MÁV and Volán will each receive 5 percent based on a three-year agreement. On the other hand, railway workers are calling for a 16% increase and say the increase in the minimum wage is causing wage tension.

The Public Servants Union has even greater demands, which require an increase of 25 percent, but they have not yet succeeded in starting formal negotiations with the government.

The channel asked the government how much a raise public sector workers could expect, and the only answer they got was an increase in the salaries of doctors, nurses, teachers, policemen and soldiers.

According to Portfolio analyst József Hornyák, the government is in a difficult position, and it must be lifted, otherwise many may resign.
