He wrote that it really looks like Vicarious Visions will be combined with Blizzard ribbed. The newspaper claims that employees at the former studio were informed of the development, with management sharing the news with them during a company meeting on Wednesday. The developers say that the team will be given a new name, although it is not known what it will be yet. Some say Blizzard Albany will be his new name, as the studio operates in Albany, New York.
According to the report, the developers weren’t particularly surprised by the news, although some complained that they were suddenly notified. Vicarious Visions has worked closely with Blizzard for some time, helping it develop Overwatch, World of Warcraft, and much of the latest release of Diablo II: Resurrected. When Blizzard president J. Allen Brack resigned in August, he was replaced by two people, one of whom was Jen Oneal, who had previously driven Vicarious Visions.
The studio was founded in 1991, and the owners at the time sold the team to Activision in 2005. Vicarious Visions has worked on a number of well-known IPs over the years (Star Wars, Spider-Man, Transformers, Skylanders, Guitar Hero, etc.), But it is primarily known for its transportation and processing. For example, they made the 2017 Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 last year.
A paper actually aired in early 2021 stating that Activision was preparing to merge the studios.
