The CEO of the giant Fintech.hu has resigned

Alyssa Henry, CEO of payments platform Square, is leaving. This news was announced by Square’s parent company, Block. The company will be led by Block’s president and co-founder, Jack Dorsey.

“The CEO has worked at Block for more than nine years, and during that time he has made a significant contribution to the company’s success,” the company said in a statement. Henry did not give a reason for his departure. Prior to joining Square, he was Vice President of Amazon Web Services Storage and Product Manager of Microsoft SQL Server Data Access.

A global outage at Square in September left thousands of businesses unable to access their accounts or process credit card payments for more than 24 hours. The company apologized to its business customers last week after a lengthy outage left them unable to process consumer payments.

The outage began in the afternoon of September 7 and continued into the following morning. Square, which primarily serves small and medium-sized businesses, cited a system error related to the domain name as the reason for the extended outage.

“We apologize for letting you down and taking so long to get our systems back up and running again. We know the situation was also complicated by our communications.”
