The hunter spider that got out of the bag of a person returning from Africa in Scotland certainly caused serious alarm.

A huge African hunting spider has emerged from a bag in the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, reports A BBC.

The Scottish Animal Protection Organization, the SPCA, has quarantined the 10-centimetre-long spider, which arrived in Scotland in the bag of a man returning from an apprenticeship in Africa. That’s a big word because according to the SPCA employee, the spider is very fast, which is unfortunate for such an animal, because it could easily have escaped.

a sample BBC She notes that hunting spiders live in warm, tropical regions such as Africa, Asia, and Australia. A full-fledged hunting spider can reach 28 cm in length when fully grown, so a 10 cm long spider was not considered exceptionally large.

However, the good news is that although they are venomous spiders, so their bites can have serious consequences, they do not like to bite and are not considered dangerous to humans.

The specimen who made the long journey – intact – will live out the rest of her life with a specialist in Kent.
