According to the statement, the Ethiopian government has strengthened monitoring and supervision of aid, and the changes include restructuring the registration of entitlements.

The announcement by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) states this

Continuing food aid saves lives and reduces the suffering of the most vulnerable groups, and emphasizes that aid must reach those who truly need it.

The United States recently suspended its food program in Ethiopia due to violations that led to the hijacking of shipments.

The European Union on Tuesday raised the possibility of resuming development aid to Ethiopia, which has been suspended for three years. EU Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen promised development aid worth 650 million euros (252 billion Hungarian forints) in a joint press conference with Ethiopian Finance Minister Ahmed Szeid in Addis Ababa.

The European Union suspended aid nearly three years ago due to the bloody conflict in Tigray, which ended last year with a ceasefire.
