The largest number of foreign workers are Hungarians.

In June, 124,718 Hungarians worked in Austria, according to reports by A.S Vg.hu Based on the latest data available on the Austrian Social Insurance website. Not only is this number constantly increasing – about the same as the population of Győr – but it is now a larger group of workers than in any foreign country. By the way, Hungarians account for almost one-eighth of all foreign workers.

VG highlights: Only the German contingent can be compared to the Hungarian contingent of 123,000 strong. Romanians are third on the list, with 83,700 of them working in Austria.

As for the regional distribution: approximately 23,000 Hungarians work in Lower Austria, 22,700 in Burgenland, a figure even higher than the 21,500 workers in Vienna.

In 2022, 110,975 Hungarians will work in Austria at an annual rate. The Germans numbered even more, 117,786, according to VG reports.
