Sonny was born in 1954, and met Mark and David Knopfler, who founded the band, where he worked as a salesman at Rudy’s Music Stop, a famous guitar shop in New York, and after the latter’s separation, he joined Dire Straits in 1984, and was a member of it until 1988.
