Apple launches free sports app in US, UK and Canada

Apple is moving more into sports, offering Apple Sports, a free app for the iPhone that offers real-time scores and stats, and the ability to tap to watch live matches on Apple TV. It's available for download in the App Store in the US, UK and Canada starting today.

“We built Apple Sports to give sports fans what they want — an app that provides incredibly fast access to scores and stats,” said Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Services. “Apple Sports is available for free in the App Store, and makes it easier for users to stay up to date with their favorite teams and leagues.”

Users can customize scoreboards for the following leagues currently in season: MLS, NBA, NCAA Basketball (men's and women's), NHL, Bundesliga, LaLiga, Liga MX, Ligue 1, Premier League, Serie A. Additional leagues will become available over time. Including MLB, NFL, NCAAF, NWSL and WNBA for upcoming seasons.

Fans can navigate between results and upcoming matches; Explore game-by-game information, team stats, lineup details, and live betting odds. They can also tap to the Apple TV app to watch live games from Apple TV+ — which includes Friday night games for Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer — and connected streaming apps.

Football begins today as Lionel Messi – in his first full season with Major League Soccer – and Inter Miami host Real Salt Lake.

Apple Sports will sync with favorites set in the My Sports experience, including the Apple TV app and Apple News.
