At least that’s what Microsoft has proposed as an extreme solution if an appeal against the CMA’s decision is unsuccessful. Globally, more and more people are agreeing to the takeover.
bloomberg according to his information Brad Smith will meet Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt in person next week. At the meeting, one of the main topics will be artificial intelligence, but it is also expected to discuss the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
Microsoft almost immediately appealed the CMA’s decision, details of which were announced this week. The meeting between the CEO of Microsoft and the representative of the British government will also be important in order to ease the growing tension between the company and the state apparatus.
According to further information from the whitepaper, Smith gave the possibility that if they didn’t hit their target with their appeal, they would still buy Activision Blizzard, only to pull the publisher’s games and services from the UK. This includes not only the Call of Duty series, but of course World of Warcraft, and basically all games released under the umbrella of Activision and Blizzard. It is not yet known if this is a hoax or a possible retaliation, but the Redmond company has repeatedly made it clear that it is not backing down from the acquisition.
