China: The United States is the largest violator of human rights in the world

Beijing has promised to retaliate if the United States does not withdraw the blacklist of Chinese officials convicted of human rights abuses.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin accused the United States of “defaming China, repressing Chinese officials without reason, violating international law, and egregiously interfering in China’s internal affairs” at a regular press conference on Tuesday.

Wang said Beijing would respond with “mutual retaliation” if the United States did not immediately lift sanctions.

The statement came after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken accused the Chinese government of committing “genocide and crimes against humanity” against the Uyghurs, a Muslim ethnic minority in China’s predominantly northwestern region of Xinjiang.

He added that Washington had blacklisted Chinese officials he said were guilty of human rights violations, RT.

Wang responded, calling the United States “the world’s largest human rights violator,” which had treated Native Americans as a “de facto genocide.” He also criticized Washington for its “prolonged and systematic racial discrimination against black Americans.”

Many international human rights groups have long accused China of oppressing Uyghurs and forcing them into labor camps. Beijing denies the allegations and insists that Uyghurs study in vocational education and training centers as part of the country’s integration and deradicalization programs.
