Great Britain officially joined the Trans-Pacific Partnership in New Zealand on Sunday, the Trans-Pacific Trade Agreement, becoming the organization’s first new country since 2018.

Kemi Badnoch, the British Minister for Business and Trade, said at the signing that her country was delighted to be the first new member of the organization in many years.

This is a recent and ambitious agreement, and our membership of this exciting, bright and forward-looking cluster demonstrates that the UK’s doors are open for business.

Badenoch said.

Britain will become the 12th member of the pact to dismantle trade barriers as it seeks to deepen post-Brexit Pacific ties in 2020. The UK government has not yet ratified the deal – Gave the news Reuters reported.

China, Taiwan, Ukraine, Costa Rica, Uruguay and Ecuador are currently on the organization’s waiting list.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, abbreviated Trans-Pacific Partnership or Pacific Partnership (Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, abbreviated TPPA or TPP), is an agreement between Australia, Brunei, Chile, the United States, and Japan, established between Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, and Singapore New Zealand and Vietnam Free trade agreement. On January 23, 2017, the United States withdrew from the agreement, which currently includes 11 countries.

The agreement was created by expanding the Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership (TPSEP or P4) which was originally formed by four countries. Eight other countries joined Brunei, Chile, Singapore and New Zealand starting in 2008, after which the USA left in 2017.
