The era of analog keyboards has arrived, and Razer has enhanced it in a big way

The emergence of the Wooting HE series began an unexpected development. Razer now dedicates an entire series to analog keyboards.

04/21/2024 – In recent years, computer peripherals have undergone several levels of development. Obviously, the biggest step was the spread of wireless technologies. Nowadays, such relationships are no longer a disadvantage. Manufacturers' 2.4GHz solutions ensure almost lag-free connectivity. Whether it's headphones, mice, or keyboards, competitive gamers can choose the wireless versions with confidence. Another important value has also changed.

The polling rate determines the number of times the selected peripheral device connects to the computer per second. For a long time, this value peaked at 1000 Hz, but in recent years devices operating at a polling rate of 2000, 4000 and even 8000 Hz have appeared. This development can be seen mostly in the case of mice, as it is much less important in the case of keyboards and headphones. However, it would be a mistake to think that innovations stopped here. More and more keyboards are coming with analogue switches, which can provide a whole new level of usability. We could highlight the Wooting or SteelSeries Apex Pro products, but now Razer has also introduced a whole range of products.

Razer announced in April that the Huntsman V3 Pro series was complete. Keyboards with 60% TKL and 100% customization are no joke when it comes to performance. The keys are able to detect between 0.1 and 4 mm how hard a specific key is pressed. It determines this with the help of a Hall sensor integrated under the keys and a magnet built into the keys, practically converting the magnetic field change to a value between 0 and 100%. This means that the keyboard can not only benefit from both pressing and non-pressing situations, but it can benefit from a much wider range.

Thanks to this, performance and response time can be more enjoyable. It should also not be neglected that the behavior of the keys can be completely customized. Do you want to detect the keyboard only when you press it all the way? can be solved. Do you want your touch to register as a touch at the slightest touch? No problem with that either. Of course, the usual surroundings, namely replaceable cables, RGB lighting and wrist support, haven't been left out of Razer's repertoire either.
