Although the Wii U consoles are now quite old, it might be interesting to know that Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon are being taken offline due to a security issue.
the Nintendo announced, to bring Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon video games offline on Wii U consoles. Although the Nintendo Switch predecessor has already fallen, developers are still concerned about player safety, since online options are prohibited for data protection reasons. In the announcement, the company stated that Nintendo’s favorite products would not be available due to “urgent maintenance.” There is no information yet on when things will return to normal.
Those who still play consoles, including the aforementioned games, may be very saddened by the loss of internet functionality. Mario Kart 8 is one of the best-selling Wii U games with nearly 8.5 million copies sold, and nearly 5 million of the original Splatoon games sold on the same device.
Wii U may actually be retiring: Nintendo will be closing Wii U and 3DS eShops soon. After March 27, system owners will no longer be able to shop in digital stores. How unfortunate that this problem appeared weeks before the great lockdown!
