Years ago, Koenigsegg announced that, contrary to its previous tradition, it was going crazy with a high-quality family sports car. Gemera production is expected to start next year – 300 of them can be expected – but it’s already certain that the model won’t stop at just over 1,700 hp.

The Swedish sports car manufacturer – previously toying with the idea of racing – has announced that its first four-door model will be available with a plug-in, i.e. plug-in powertrain, and not just a 2.0-liter inline-three-cylinder engine, but also a 5.0-liter V8. . Thus, the coupe’s performance will rise from 1,724 to 2,300 hp, which will be accompanied “only” by 2,750 Nm compared to the previous 3,500.

At the opening of the brand’s new factory in Angelholm, Sweden, Christian von Koenigsegg unveiled the new engine, which was installed for the first time on a Gemera with green and gold trim. Taking into account its weight of 2,946 kilograms, the power-to-weight ratio of the so-called Mega GT comes in at 0.77 hp per kilogram, he writes. CarBuzz.

They have not yet revealed how much acceleration and top speed this means, but Koenigsegg usually excels in these parameters. The 1,724-horsepower “basic model” reaches 100 km / h from a standstill in just 1.9 seconds, but is capable of speeds up to 400 km / h.
