Official documents released to the public reveal that the survival game will be getting a sequel.
One of the first Early Access games was DayZ, which turned from a mod for ArmA 2 into a standalone work. Its first version was released in December 2013, then for five years it was almost ready to play as part of Steam’s Early Access program, and then it was also released for consoles.
Although the number of people playing at the same time on PC has fallen sharply, nowadays there are more people playing it than ever before: while at the time of its release it reached 45 thousand, then interest in it steadily decreased, in January 2023 new. The record was held by 63,040 simultaneous players, and in the last thirty the peak was also 59,394 during the day.
Knowing this, it’s no surprise that Bohemia Interactive is already working on the sequel. During the ongoing investigations into the Activision Blizzard acquisition, a number of internal correspondences were announced, including one that recaps Bohemia’s past and lists the studio’s upcoming games: ArmA Reforged, ArmA 4, and DayZ 2.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t find more information than that, so it’s not known what changes and innovations they intend to use to offer a new experience. However, it likely won’t be included in PC Game Pass: Bohemia isn’t excited about the service.
