Almost 1,500 people cast their votes on miteszikazorszag.hu:

In tough competition, Greek grilled meat salad won the title of Hungarians’ favorite healthy dish.

This dish was also the most popular among women, but among men, grilled fish with salad came to the fore. Interestingly, the difference between the two mentioned dishes was only two votes in total.

Vegetables still make it to the third rung of the podium, and their cream of vegetable soup and chicken breast with colorful vegetables still deserve a place in the top five. Rounding out the top ten was a cheese plate, fried chicken with steamed rice, grilled stuffed mushrooms, tuna salad, and cauliflower meatloaf served with sweet potatoes.

We are a nation of dieters

This time, the initiators were also curious about what Hungarians think about healthy eating and the choices they make. 57 percent of respondents said they eat healthy food, 34 percent have not eaten yet, but are planning to, and only 8 percent do not care what they eat.

Most of the respondents eat three to four times a day, and many strive to eat vegetables and fruits every day, drink enough water, and avoid sugar.

When asked why they don’t eat healthy food, almost half of the participants answered that they think it’s too expensive, and 20 percent don’t have time for it,

Based on the research, it can be said that we are a nation of dieters. Almost three-quarters of the respondents have already tried some method of losing weight, and only 27 percent of them have never lost weight. The most popular is the low-carb diet, and in addition to the 10 methods presented, participants indicated 37 different diets. This was the Swedish or flexitarian diet for 16/8 or 90 days.
