Hungarian gas exports took a hit

2023. Third. In the quarter:

The value of exports amounted to 9.2 billion euros (3.5 thousand billion forints) and imports amounted to 5.9 billion euros (2.3 thousand billion forints). The assets of foreign trade in services amounted to 3.3 billion euros (1.3 thousand billion forints), according to the KSH announcement.

Among service groups, tourism contributed a record €1.4 billion, transportation €889 million, and business services €523 million until 2023. III. For quarterly assets.

65% of our service exports and 72% of our service imports were with EU member states, and in this regard a surplus of €1.8 billion was achieved.

Germany remains our number one partner, with 19% of total business volume. The second most important country is the United States of America, which accounted for 8.6 percent of trade, while Austria, in third place, received 8 percent of trade.

Of the total services exports, the share of business services was 36 percent (including other business services 19 percent), followed by tourism with a 30 percent share and transportation services with a 25 percent share. In terms of imports, the share of business services was also most prominent at 48% (including 25% from other business services), while transportation services accounted for 25% and tourism 23% of the total import volume.

2023. Third. Quarter compared to the previous year:

The value of services exports in euros rose by 14 percent (8.5 percent in Hungarian forints), and the value of imports by 9.8 percent (4.4 percent in Hungarian forints). Assets exceeded the surplus for the same period of the previous year by 616 million euros (183 billion forints).

The significant increase in assets can be explained mainly by the improvement of EUR 456 million and EUR 127 million in the balance of tourism and contract labor services.

Our EU traffic assets became 31 percent more relevant, or by €426 million, which contributed significantly to improving our trade balance with our main partners, Germany and the Netherlands, by €207 million. 79 million euros respectively.

In the case of non-EU countries, the surplus increased by €189 million, or 14 percent. The largest improvement in the balance, €47 million, was recorded in relation to the United Kingdom.

As for the period from January to September 2023, the value of exports amounted to 24.3 billion euros (9.3 thousand billion forints), and the value of imports amounted to 15.9 billion euros (6.1 thousand billion forints). The value of exports increased by 11 percent (2.4 billion euros) and the value of imports by 5.6 percent (835 million euros) compared to the previous year.
