The government will only accept EU funds with conditions

The latest decisions, published in the Hungarian Gazette on Friday evening, brought about major changes to the budget.

The government reallocated a total of about 130 billion HUF.

A total of HUF 110.6 billion will be primarily reallocated to the Economic Restart Program (GÚP) in the Economic Restart Fund.
Most of this, 31.6 billion forints, went to the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, and almost all of this, 30 billion forints, goes to support non-governmental higher education institutions. The government also decided to accept money from the European Union’s recovery fund, but only with certain conditions.
1. When the recovery plan is adopted, only an agreement can be accepted in which the European Commission does not impose on Hungary a condition that does not apply to other Member States (ban double standards).
2. Hungary implements the non-discrimination provided for in Article 21 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union in conjunction with the provision in Article 14 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union in accordance with the national laws governing the exercise of these rights and freedoms.”
