Global production last year was 260 million hectoliters, 1% less than in 2020. This is mainly due to the fact that last year there was a significant drop of 19 and 14 percent in France and Spain, respectively. Australia and Chile saw growth of between 30 and 30 percent.

Romania’s share of world production is 1.7 percent. Although it was a particularly good year last year, production didn’t even come close to the record for 2018. That year, 5.1 million hectoliters of drinks were produced by wineries and vineyards. In 2019 and 2020, production in Romania was 3.8 million hectoliters.
