Restricted expectations support the Black Friday experience: 45 percent of participants organized a sale for this period, and according to two-thirds of them (69 percent), traffic was lower than expectations. 46 percent of them reported that their sales volume was lower than last year. In other words, the real value of online retailers’ sales revenues has fallen beyond inflation.
29% of e-retailers saw no change compared to last year, while 36% saw an increase and 35% saw the opposite.
The interviewees justified this decrease by saying that the population has less money to spend, and that many prefer to wait and save in light of the unstable economic situation.
At the same time, according to Dezső Dévavári, head of Olcsóbbat.hu, the decrease is not necessarily significant, since compared to last year, many Hungarians order from foreign online stores.
