Texas vs. Oklahoma Score, Fast Food: Longhorns Storm returns to knock out No.6 Cowboys in overtime

Oklahoma State No. 6 did everything in its power to abandon the game against Texas on Saturday. Ultimately, the Cowboys succeeded, and was no longer the last unbeaten team in the Big 12 after losing 41-34 to Longhorns in overtime. It was the third game of extra time for Texas already this season, and it also marked their first on-the-road win over a top 10 team since Nebraska in 2010.

This is a game the state of Oklahoma should have won. Quarterback Spencer Sanders was awesome. He was representing 400 yards and four touchdowns – both of which were the highs of his career. Once again, he extended his lead, including the seven-match run, which measures 63 yards, to level the match at 34 with just over a minute remaining. His favorite target, Tylan Wallace, was a beast that had 11 hunt runs for 187 yards and two drops.

Sanders has made his fair share of mistakes and if there’s a knock on him that means he’s a bit careless with soccer. His ability to perform in plays outweighs those risks, but it is something he needs to control.

There was a lot of things to learn from this game, so let’s dive into some of the key points where Texas is keeping its hopes for the Big 12 Championship.

Bugs killed cowboys

Oklahoma will move away from this game knowing it is giving Texas every chance to win. The Cowboys-4 was in Doran battle with Sanders which represented three: two losses and one interception. These four turnovers resulted in 21 points in favor of the Longhorns. Additionally, the kick-off from 100 yards in the middle of the third quarter by D’Shawn Jamison kept Texas at close range after Oklahoma went up 31-20. Overall, these errors resulted in 27 points out of 34 points in regulation. This is how you lose the game.

The Oklahoma state defense is not to be blamed

Once again, the mistakes were the thing that cost Oklahoma to win. The first three shifts, all in the first half, allowed Texas to start in the red every time. Somehow, that resulted in only 13 points for Longhorns. The worst-case scenario was three easy landings. This put the Pokes’ defense in stressful situations, and they have handled really well themselves. The fourth turn gave Texas the ball in the 41-yard streak. The Horns team put together 15 cool payouts on that acquisition, but again, they had a good site to start.

The Texas crime was generally not effective. She has stowed the ball 15 times, and has only moved the ball twice for over 30 yards. Both were downhill driving, but even so, that’s a pretty decent ratio for cowboy defense. Horns averaged just 3.8 yards per game and was 2 of 15 on the third landing. The Cowboys had tight coverage on the field, but Texas midfielder Sam Ellinger – as he does often – gave mega plays late in fourth place. At some point, if you give him the chance, he’ll do a play.

Joseph Ousai was the player of the game

And that with Wallace spending a huge day in Oklahoma. However, the Texas full-back was everywhere, and he was the final difference maker after Case carried out the match win over Sanders. Osei finished the day with 12 interventions, three sacks, a forced stumble and recovered. Ossai had been playing quietly all year, but he had a great time at all of today’s conventions.
