According to posts shared on social media, Dell recently informed several of its customers that their customer information was accessed by third parties through an incident related to the Dell portal. Experts linked this to the fact that, according to a report published by the Daily Dark Web at the end of April, cybercriminals are offering for sale on online black markets a package that allegedly contains personal data for 49 million customers who purchased Dell devices between 2017 and 2024, including names and addresses. and purchased device identifiers – books hwsw.hu.

According to the retailer, approximately 7 million lines are associated with individual/personal purchases, while 11 million records are associated with companies active in the consumer sector. The remaining data belongs to multiple companies, partners, schools, or other entities.

As the portal wrote, cybercriminals have been trying to harm Dell customers for years through fraudulent calls, impersonating the computer manufacturer's support team. During attacks, the perpetrators use one of the company's phone numbers, and in order to succeed, they do this

Knowing the victim's name, address, and position, they try to gain his trust with company information that only he knows.

Including the service tag number, model of device used, and identifiers associated with previous purchases. Callers then attempt to convince the target to pay or install malware.

According to the company, criminals do not have sensitive information such as bank card details, phone numbers or email addresses.
