Speaking on Monday, Australian Foreign Minister Marisa Payne said that “I have not heard anything about it happening in my life in any context.”
“This is a scandalous and extremely worrying attack in relation to a range of events … We have made our views clear to the Qatari authorities on this,” she told a news conference in Canberra.
Payne added that a report has been submitted to the Australian Federal Police (AFP).
In response to CNN, AFP said it was aware of the matter and was communicating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
“It would not be appropriate to comment any further,” an AFP spokesman said.
