WHO: Indian coronavirus variant is present in 62 countries

On Wednesday, the Minister of Health announced that the Polish epidemiological restrictions will be further relaxed from June 6: in addition to staff restrictions, conferences and exhibitions can be held, and the maximum number of weddings and public events will be raised to 150.

All epidemiological indicators are improving, the number of hospital admissions for infection and the coronavirus is dynamically declining, only about one percent of virus tests are positive, Adam Nidzelsky said at a press conference.

He stressed that the gradual introduction, which he introduced gradually since the beginning of May compared to other European countries, did not result in another wave of infection.

On Wednesday, 664 people in Poland, with a population of nearly 38 million, were diagnosed with the virus in one day. 31 patients died specifically from Covid-19 and 97 patients died from coexisting Covid-19 and other diseases. The number of hospital admissions decreased to 3,984.

In the country, many restrictions were gradually lifted in May: hotels, restaurants, cinemas, theaters and concert halls, as well as sports facilities, can operate, albeit with occupancy up to 50 percent. With the exception of universities, educational institutions have also returned to traditional education.

From June 6, further relief will follow. Conferences, exhibitions and trade fairs can also be held provided that an area of at least 15 square meters is available for one participant. Playhouses can be opened with the same limitation.

The maximum number of participants is increased from fifty to one hundred and fifty at public and family events, including weddings. More discounts for the summer period will be announced next week.

Vaccination restrictions do not apply to vaccines: they can attend all kinds of events plus a maximum.

Hospitality and use of cultural and sports facilities are not linked to a vaccination certificate, negative virus test, or document proving recovery from COVID-19 disease. However, such documents are necessary to cross the border, and even Poles returning from abroad can avoid a ten-day quarantine in their possession.

Poland is among the seven EU member states that began issuing Covid cards across the EU on Tuesday. In one day, Niedzielski said, Poles downloaded more than 400,000 encrypted digital ID cards.

In Poland, more than 20.5 million vaccines have been administered as of Wednesday morning. Both doses were given to 7.3 million. Vaccine registrars can choose from four vaccines authorized in the European Union. Children between the ages of 12 and 15 will begin being vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine starting next Monday. (MTI)
