After the success of Netflix streaming one piece Fans began dreaming about who each cast member could play in major franchises like the Marvel Universe.
Netflix’s take on Eiichiro Oda’s hacking saga is the most successful anime-to-live-action adaptation to date, debuting to excellent viewing numbers and near-universal acclaim.
One of the most popular aspects of the show was… “killer crew” Which is largely made up of relatively unknown actors.
This energetic group has fans salivating to see what some of these actors do next, as fans throw these stars’ names into the ring for every major franchise in Hollywood, most importantly the MCU.
Who can play One Piece in the MCU?
Inaki Godoy (Luffy) – Nightcrawler
one piece Star (and primary hero) Iñaki Godoy seems like a natural fit for the MCU, especially as the series ventures into the world of the X-Men. If Godoy caught the franchise’s attention for his role as one of Marvel’s iconic mutants, Nightcrawler seems like the obvious choice for the charismatic young actor.
While Godoy played the lovable Luffy with “heart on his sleeves at all times”. one piecetaking on the animated X-Men member could be a great opportunity for the star to show off his emotional versatility as an actor, while exploring the complex nature of the Marvel Mutant story.
Plus, he’s the perfect age as he’s only 20 years old. Even if Marvel waits about five years or so to introduce the X-Men proper into the MCU (via Rumor Mutants Project), he will still be right in that key age group to play one of the young heroes on Charles Xavier’s team.
Emily Rudd (Nami) – Spider-Gwen
Nami star Emily Rudd feels like she was born to play a live-action version of Spider-Gwen. Since the Netflix release one pieceRudd was thrust into the spotlight after playing the famous Straw Hat Navigator.
Rod one piece The character basically demonstrated all the qualities that make Spider-Gwen/Gwen Stacy so beloved among fans. She can hold her own in a fight, she’s endlessly charismatic, but – as he described it one piece Director Mark Jobst – “It has a lot of depth to it.”
This depth is key. Rudd can deliver the sarcastic one-liners that the webmaster is known for, and she can also deliver emotionally charged and dramatic character moments.
Makinyu (Zoro) – Giant
String one piece, Makinyu plays the stoic swordsman Roranoa Zoro. Zoro is cold, sensitive, and serves as the voice of reason among the rest of the Straw Hats, which is why he would be the perfect choice to play Scott Summers (aka Cyclops) in the MCU.
The pseudo-leader (at least that’s how he sees it) of Marvel’s
Zoro and Cyclops feel like they are very similar characters, as they are both natural leaders and have layers of conflict hidden beneath their brave façade. Furthermore, McNew’s take on the hero will be very different from what fans have seen on screen, as he will be more aggressive than James Marsden and Tye Sheridan.
Taz Skyler (Sanji) – Johnny Storm
The Fantastic Four The fandom is old hat at this point, but it’s time to have a serious conversation about Taz Skylar as Johnny Storm. Skyler played Chef Sanji in the Straw Hats, captivating audiences with his cheerful presence and amazing ability to talk his way out of any situation. Sound like anyone?
Taz Skylar feels ready to play Johnny Storm/the Human Torch. Just like the Fantastic Four, Skylar’s Sanji has proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with in combat, regardless of the coolest guy in the room.
The Sanji actor also showed that he can work within the group dynamic that will be integral to being part of the MCU in Marvel’s First Family. Just record it, Kevin Feige. He’s ready to flame!
Jacob Romero (USOP) – fastball
Jacob Romero’s fandom in the MCU is a bit deep, but it works perfectly, as the Usopp actor should play Speedball for Marvel Studios. String one pieceUsopp is the Straw Hats’ beloved idiot. He’s eccentric, a bit of a coward, and has a tendency to stretch the truth in a fun way, making his actor ready to play a hero like Speedball.
In the comics, Robbie Baldwin (aka Speedball) is one of Marvel’s most intelligent modern heroes. The character is known for his (goofy) ability to produce energy-filled orbs (orbs), a detail that can be played for laughs on screen under Marvel Studios’ tutelage.
While it seems unlikely that Romero will lead speed ball movie will ever happen, the character would work incredibly well in one of the MCU’s more comedic films, which makes sense in projects like Deadpool 3, Strong woman Season 2 (if green lit), Protect The miracle man.
Vincent Regan (GARP) – Cable
Get out of play one pieceGarp, Vincent Regan can do a great job playing Marvel anti-hero Cable. The time-traveling mutant was previously seen in Deadpool 2 (He’s played by Thanos actor Josh Brolin), but if Marvel Studios wants to bring the character back into the MCU proper, Regan will nail it.
Regan’s Garp (just like Cable) is as physically intimidating as he is mentally, always three or four steps ahead of his prey (aka the Straw Hats) and ready to attack anyone who gets in his way.
But what makes Reagan even more suited to playing Cable is the actor’s ability to play both hero and villain. After chasing the Straw Hats across the open seas, they are let go in the first season of the Netflix series. This is “Is it good?” Is it bad? Quality is essential to any engagement with Cable and could be a morally interesting puzzle piece to introduce into the MCU.
Peter Gadiot (Shanks) – Gambit
If Marvel Studios wants to introduce Gambit into the MCU, it would be smart for the Hollywood giant to call up Peter Gadiot. Gadiot is making waves at Netflix one piece The series like Shanks is cooler than cool. Shanks (for lack of a better term) is Luffy’s mentor, giving him the inspiration to become the infamous pirate captain.
Since his debut in 1990, Gambit/Remy LeBeau has oozed cool. The mutant who uses the card is known by his name (e.g. Marvel Comics Wiki dub) “Hypnotic magic” Something that Shanks Gadiot has in spades.
Although Marvel will likely go younger for most of the X-Men characters, if the studio wanted to use the older Gambit as an additional mutant, Gadiot would be a natural choice for the role (sorry, Channing Tatum).
one piece Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
