WhatsApp Avatars Will Soon Be Generated Using AI

WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging platforms in the world, is constantly expanding with new features that are regularly updated by Meta. The latest addition makes the app even more exciting thanks to the integration of artificial intelligence.

Meta recently introduced Meta AI Chat across its platforms, including WhatsApp, which allows users to talk to AI and create images. And now the In the latest beta version of WhatsApp (2.24.14.13 for Android) A new and interesting feature is being tested: users can create their own MI avatar using selfies.

Meta Innovation: Create AI WhatsApp Avatars From Selfies

The new feature is still in development and not currently available to beta testers, but a preview screenshot of it is already available. Depending on the image, the custom page or setting will contain the images that users use to create their avatar. While creating images using Meta AI, users need to prepare their profile picture and then type “Imagine Me” to request their avatar to be created.

The AI-generated image is displayed as a 3D animated character that resembles the user's appearance but enriched with additional details. If users want to delete their profile pictures or set a new one, they can do so through Meta AI settings.

For privacy, when users use the AI command in other conversations, Meta AI will not read the chats, only the commands. This feature will be optional so users can decide whether they want to use it. More information is expected when the AI avatar feature becomes available to beta testers.
