Magician is Canada's gold medal hopeful

When Phillip Kim, better known as Phil Wizard, started breaking barriers, he had no idea it would lead him to the Olympics one day.

After claiming gold at the 2023 Pan American Games, he will not only be going to the Olympics, but he is one of the favorites to win gold.

The 27-year-old from Vancouver, British Columbia, began separating from a group of friends who called themselves The Wizards Crew.

He said people often refer to him as “Phil” from the Wizards' Crew.

This name was “naturally shortened to Phil Wizard”.

CBC Kids News contributor Arjun Ram and MAJ (Mon Actualité Jeunesse, the French equivalent of CBC KN) contributor Gabriel Dallaire sat down with Kim for an interview in December 2023.

But before they got to the questions, like who Kim's favorite fictional wizard is, they played a 20-question game to try to guess his sport.

Check out what they did, and find out why Kim was worried he might cancel his subscription!
