Ubisoft Scalar: Bigger and Better Worlds Simulated with the Cloud [VIDEO]

At this year’s GDC (Game Developers Conference), Ubisoft unveiled a new development tool.

Ubisoft’s Ubisoft studio and the technology division of the French publisher are behind Ubisoft Scalar. The promises are that developers can even design an unlimited number of players to achieve significantly larger worlds and better simulate with the tool. Of course, Scalar knows what it is thanks to cloud computing. This is not a game engine, but an option to provide existing technology (such as Unreal Engine) with cloud tuning. This will remove the barrier for limited hardware, but it will be a different challenge for developers because they won’t know exactly what to do with the capacity they have.
