In the German series, a group of European immigrants leave London on a steamer to start a new life in New York. However, when they encounter another migrant boat in the open waters, their journey turns into a nightmare.
Barely two months after the premiere, it was also revealed if there would be a continuation of the series. 1899 creators Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese announced on January 2 that Netflix has halted production.
