During his career, Gábor Császár has played for Dunaferr SE, Danish Viborg HK, Spanish CB Cantabria, French Chambéry Savoie, Veszprém, Paris Saint-Germain, Swiss Kadetten Schaffhausen and Amicitia Zürich. In the national team he scored 845 goals in 247 matches between 2004 and 2019. He was also a member of the team that finished fourth in both Athens 2004 and London 2012 Olympics. He placed sixth in the World Championships and eighty in the European Championships is his best.
Gábor Császár returned home after nineteen years of life in the Legion. At the invitation of President Robert Case, Cegléd’s classic manager, who was promoted to NB I men’s, will continue, but not as a player, but in the professional manager role.
– It will be a complex task, there are still many questions, fortunately I got here at the stage where the project is about construction – said Cassar, who has a degree in sports management.
Last year, a meniscus injury came at the worst time for him, leading to a six-month layoff. Then it was good for him to rest in the following seasons.
– On Christmas, it turned out that the slight pain that was still in my knee remained because the operation did not go well, and another operation was needed. Last summer’s recovery with little rest turned into a state of “I’m going to stop and that’s it, I don’t do it anymore”. During another six weeks of running on crutches, I realized I needed something else, that I needed to do all this differently. I spoke with my wife in one day, family and friends supported me. I’m now five months old with my legs, which will be fine in a couple of months, but for now I want to work primarily for Cegléd – said Császár, but also revealed his desire to look elsewhere, sport diplomacy.
– Suppose the game should be plan K, but I do not exclude the possibility of its existence. It won’t take long for me to be able to get back on the field physically, and I will definitely need two weeks to play. We tried to bring the team together in a way that I didn’t have to be, he said regarding whether it would be possible for him to come back in a Cegléd shirt.
The national team final 247 times did not go well for him, as Gabor Cassar spoke about this.
– This is not a wide wound, in fact the situation was a little strange. Then my little son was born, and I gladly offered to be there, but if there was no need for me, I would have something to do at home. It was already noticeable that something was not working, I did not play much, which did not go well. There is no thorn in me since I have been with the national team for sixteen years. It is not the best result for the national team, but it turned out this way – he said about what happened in 2019, which he has since been able to discuss with the then captain of the team, Vladan Matic.
