There is less place in Debrecen where pedestrians stand in the way of road users

There is less place in Debrecen where pedestrians stand in the way of road users

Almost anyone who had been driving in Debrecen for a long time would have braked on Bethlen Street: the “danger zone” stretched from the corner supermarket almost to Thaly Kálmán Street because pedestrians stumbled on the road and often came out of cover. There is a good chance that this will stop in the future, thanks to the fact that a barrier was installed in the indicated section as the completion of the expansion and renovation of Bethlen Street and University Avenue neared. The bulkhead is located on the side of the course track;

It is too high to be surpassed, and its design would be a fight for a man with bigger shoulders, a more clumsy woman, or an old person.

While on site, we did not see any pedestrians climbing over the fence

So it is assumed that fewer pedestrians will venture between the cars, which has proven annoying and risky, especially in the morning and afternoon rush hours.

The contractor also completed the design of the intersection with traffic lights on Bethlen Street and Thaly Kálmán Street. This pedestrian crossing was more dangerous than average, as many people crossed it, but not all drivers were polite, or more precisely, abiding by law towards pedestrians.

Due to the residential area, there are especially many children and mothers with prams, which is why the organization of crossing with traffic lights is welcome. The signal lights will be programmed after August 20, until then the yellow flashing mode will remain. This also applies to the intersection of Bethlen utca – Ibolya utca.
