The Paris-based company boasts ambitious plans.
Dontnod Entertaimment was founded in 2008, and it is thriving. They’ve worked with giants like Capcom, Square Enix, Focus Home Interactive, and Xbox Game Studios in recent years, and then things have been up and running lately.
Tencent invested in it, opening a new division in Montreal and not only developing but also releasing games (eg Gerda: A Flame in Winter). So Dontnod has high hopes for the future, and few details have been revealed to the public about it.
Dontnod Entertainment CEO Oskar Guilbert detailed in a business review that they currently have six internal projects in the pipeline and are expected to be released between 2022 and 2025. Gilbert also emphasized that they are committed to two major titles:
“In four years, our royalties have increased fivefold, reaching a record level in 2021. This dynamic is primarily related to the success of Life is Strange and Vampyr, which we want to continue to benefit from., to game development capabilities following a similar line, both in the Enterprise Center Multiplayer in Montreal or at the RPG Center in Paris.”
This year, the company wants to accelerate work on the mysterious Project 8, which will be a vibrant role-playing game with Vampyrt publisher Focus Home Entertainment, while building a multi-project division in Montreal with a “strong narrative component” led by Life Strange creators.
They will also continue their publishing activities, and in addition to the already mentioned Gerda, a project based on the “minimalist world” is being developed in the development of Tolima, Belgium.
So we can expect the Life is Strange franchise to expand and somehow return to the Vampyr universe. What do you want most in Dontnod?
