previous january News appearedAfter 40 years, the DeLorean DMC-12, one of the most iconic cars of all time, could return. The Texas company, which carries the legacy of the DeLorean Motor Company under the same name, has had a long-standing desire to revive the well-known car from the Back to the Future trilogy and bring it into production, but until last year’s modification, the regulatory environment did not allow it. DMC also raised the possibility at the time that it would be beneficial to build the classic motor with an electric motor due to environmental regulations, but no final decision has yet been made. But for now, yes.
DeLorean announced on its social media channels that the 21st century will be unveiled in 2022. Century DMC-12 will be called the DeLorean EVolved, focusing on its purely electric propulsion. The short teaser video shows the electric car retaining the iconic seagull doors, but it is not yet known how much is left of the original design – for example a strip of LED lights cracking on the front of the car.
By the way, last year the design studio Italdesign also released a visual design for the DMC-12, so it is possible to work with DeLorean on the project. Italdesign recently signed a collaboration agreement with UK-based Williams Advanced Engineering to develop compact electric vehicles, so it is likely that the company will supply the DeLorean EVolved drivetrain.
