The first passively cooled N100-based mini-PC was introduced

The MeLE N100 PCG02 Pro is smaller and lighter than current smartphones, but it also runs Windows 11.

“Stationary PCs”, i.e. small computers about the size of a Raspberry Pi, but with a basic case, are not typically made to run Windows, but MeLE's latest product, the 146 x 61 x 20mm N100 PCG02 Pro, can only run the latest operating system From Microsoft, but it comes directly with Windows 11 Home installed.

As the name suggests, the device, which is roughly the size of a smartphone (although a little thicker), is powered by an Intel N100 processor – although it's a member of the Alder Lake-N series, it's also entry-level. Inside there are four Gracemont cores, which can operate at a maximum frequency of 3.4 GHz, with a maximum consumption of 6 Watts. These power requirements allow the use of completely passive cooling, so the device runs completely silently, so it could be a good solution for a simpler HTPC at home, to run Home Assistant with Linux (but it probably won't break into Word or Excel either if we don't ask too much of it), or For advertising videos and digital signage solutions in a commercial environment.

The device could be considered bottom-shelf, and under Windows 11 it could be considered well-equipped, except for the clumsy processor, because it can be optioned with 8 or 16GB of LPDDR4X-4266 RAM, and 128 or 256GB of eMMC storage (prices start at $270). Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, gigabit Ethernet, two HDMI 2.1 ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports are included. The included USB-PD adapter takes care of power supply through a separate Type-C port. The device is from Amazon Can be ordered nowalthough it is currently “out of stock”.
